Today I want to do something a little different and feature one of the many small businesses that use SnapBox as a means to promote their brand. This is going to be the start of a new series here on the blog, so if you are a small business owner using SnapBox or know someone who is, I’d love to feature your business on the blog too! I have the privilege to know Breanne from Bouton Bracelets pretty well and I am excited to share my Q&A with her today and tell you how she uses SnapBox products in her business.
Breanne, not many of our followers know who you are or what Bouton Bracelets is. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and the company you created?
My husband, Logan, and I started Bouton Bracelets two years ago and things have kind of snowballed (in a really good way) since then. We’re located in the foothills of Northern California where we create handcrafted leather bracelets with interchangeable buttons. We wanted to make something versatile and fun, but that could also stand the test of time. We’re all about being “Inspired by Life”, so our designs are boho in spirit and influenced by the beauty of where we live. We also donate 10 meals for every bracelet purchased to Feeding America.
When did you start selling?
How has your company grown since then?
I remember after only a week of being on Etsy, we were receiving multiple orders per day. It was almost like it happened overnight, which to be honest, wasn’t something I expected. I had faith in our brand, but thought it would take more time to build. Since there was such a high demand for our product, we decided to venture into wholesale only a few months after we started. We’re now in boutiques from California clear over to Tennessee. With so many retail and wholesale orders coming in, we decided to build a Bouton workshop (a labor of love, let me tell you) in November of 2014.
During this past year, we’ve been growing our relationships with wholesale customers as well as our direct customers that come through the website. 2015 really gave us the confidence to continue and expand our plans for further growth in 2016.
What are some things you’re excited about for the future?
Bouton is all about versatility. Each button has a story, something that speaks directly to you: what you stand for and believe in. So, I’m really excited to see how women (and men) use our collection to tell their story. It’s something we’re deeply invested in.
Right now the future looks bright! We have some exciting changes coming our way. Changes that represent the type of growth we believe in for our brand. We started together, my husband and I, believing in an idea, and we hope to continue expanding our brand and developing new ways to be “inspired by life”.
Did our company values impact your decision to work with us? Can you tell us a little bit about the values you hold most important?
Quality and family owned are two things that really stand out to me. When we initially looked into working with SnapBox, we were seeking a product that represented and reflected the quality we strive for in our own products. We knew that SnapBox’s ideals would tie into our own personal values and our focus on artisanal craftsmanship. We believe each individual has a story to tell as well as their own path to follow. It’s our goal to provide a meaningful way to communicate that to the world.
You use SnapBox to print some of the promotional materials for your brand. Can you tell us more about that?
The first two boutiques we ever sold to, Bayabelle and Rire, asked if we had any promotional material or signage they could use. We knew SnapBox was the answer. We created our signage and had them printed on canvas and framed with stunning results. Then, when SnapBox launched their layflat photo books, we knew it would be incredible to be able to send potential retailers a look-book of some of our most popular styles. We had about 30 books made, and they are truly stunning!
What kind of impact have you seen from using SnapBox to help promote Bouton Bracelets?
Seeing product in a store that appeals to you is one thing, but seeing it paired with a beautifully printed and framed photo shows a sense of brand identity and professionalism. We’ve received so many compliments on our SnapBox signage from both customers and boutique owners that we know it’s the tipping point.
Do you have any advice for small business owners, like you, who are trying to expand their brand and promote it in an affordable way?
My best advice would be to find a major brand that you identify with and see how they work and what they do. Call them, email them, and ask them questions. Order their product and see how it comes. Then emulate what you love, and make it your own. But don’t get discouraged along the way if you don’t have the means necessary to make it exactly how you want it (something I struggle with).
At the end of the day, we all know a picture is worth a thousand words, and if that picture is taken by a professional photographer, then printed and framed to beautiful effect, it’s worth about a million. For that? SnapBox is definitely your ticket to greater, professional exposure while building your brand on an affordable budget!
