Well, we made it through Christmas weekend! We hope everyone enjoyed their time off and is happily preparing for their New Years festivities! With the new year so close on the horizon, I thought it would be appropriate to give you guys a new way to stay organized at home. Hopefully these calendar & menu printables will help to fulfill at least one of your new years resolutions!
When I got married, I made myself a huge paint chip calendar (like this) and a chalk board menu to use at home. I wanted to be able to only grocery shop once a week, so it became essential for me to plan a weekly menu ahead of time in order to know what I was shopping for. The calendar was needed mostly because I have a type A personality and I don’t like carrying around a calendar in my purse, so I needed something to look at before I left for the day.
Well, with my recent move, we’ve been so busy with house stuff that I’ve neglected my calendar and menu duties, and let me tell you, it has been stressful to not have those two key pieces of organization up on the wall. The new year marks the change for that! I’m going to start updating the calendar every month and planning weekly menus to reduce week-night stresses that can easily bubble up when I’m not careful. But in order to keep me wanting to stay on track, I decided to design myself some new ones that go with the decor of my new home a little better.
If you didn’t already know, our framed fine art paper actually has plexi instead of glass so that it’s shatterproof. I’ve been writing on glass for a long time, but I never thought about using the plexi in the same manner. So I tested it, and it works like a charm! Using dry erase markers, you can write on and wipe off anything your little heart desires. Just make sure that you don’t scratch the plexi because if you happened to get a little bit of marker in there it will be nearly impossible to get it out. And another word of caution: if you print with white frames like I did, just be careful not to get any of the dry erase residue on the frame as it’s difficult to get off. Using windex every time you change out the calendar should help to avoid this problem.
So there you have it! A simple, modern calendar and a no-fuss menu planner! Just right click to save them to your computer. I sized these files to fit an 11×14 for the calendar and an 8×10 for the menu, so just keep that in mind when you’re uploading them to the site. Let me know what you think in the comments below! I’d love to hear your thoughts.
